I have not used Westhost for web hosting; I use them for email service. There are two key failings of Westhost for this service:
1) they have a spam
...filter which cannot be bypassed - this spam filter catches and *throws out* perfectly legitimate emails. And never tells you when it does so. This includes, for example, emails from my local wine shop (where I am on their mailing list), and emails from United.com (yes, the airline) and emails from petsmart.com (the Very Big pet goodie store). Some of the emails it tosses are "respond to this email to sign up for our mailing list" emails. You kinda Really Need to receive those emails to get on a mailing list. But Westhost won't deliver them...not even into your Junk folder.
2) their technical support is beyond pathetic. They've hired folks who both don't know what they're doing (I have a slight idea about how things should work since I've been working with networks literally beginning with the ARPAnet in the mid-70s) and are beyond stupid in what they advise. For instance, when I had trouble receiving emails from united.com, I was told I should contact United and tell them to rejigger their emails so it wouldn't trigger their filter (I cannot make this stuff up).
So. Just. Stay. Away. From Westhost. Your blood pressure will thank you.
